GRRRumbler’s Heart
If you notice the misspelling of the title of this blog, be at peace. It was done purposefully. GRRR can often be the sound made when our heart of dissatisfaction shows its’ ugly colors. Before I unpack this I wanted to share a definition my friend found on the internet before she taught about this topic.
Definition of grumbling:…
Doing the Impossible
Jesus and His disciples fed a crowd of 5000 men plus women and children. Afterwards, Jesus directed His disciples to go ahead of Him to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. The story continues:
Mathew 14:24-32
“and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. …
The Living Christ
This month we are commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus, our Savior and the cornerstone of our faith. The Scripture in Luke 24:1-5 tells the story of the women who went to the tomb of Jesus after the Sabbath to anoint His Body for burial. They found the tomb empty.
Expectancy, No Expectations
I was reading a book by a very respected author who made this observation. When we have a strong desire of receiving a particular answer to our prayers, or a strong belief of how someone should act, or how a situation should happen, we have expectations that may or may not be reasonable.
Avoiding Resentment
As I was talking with my husband not long ago, we began considering how much we have changed over the course of our lives together. We realized that someone who knew us, or had heard about us, ten, fifteen, or twenty years ago may still have that same, old impression of us, never even considering that the same God who has been changing and transforming them has also been working in us.
My Part and God’s Part
I read this scripture the other day and it captured my imagination. Do you ever read something that gets you thinking a certain way, causing a “rabbit chase” of ideas and questions? That’s what this verse did for me.
Psalm 138:8 AMP “The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me; Your [unwavering] lovingkindness, O Lord, endures forever— Do not abandon the works of Your own hands.”
Miracle of His Presence
Long ago in a land across the ocean, the Biblical prophet, Isaiah, prophesied about a young woman who would give birth to a child. This was to be a sign to the people of Israel. His Name was to remind them that they were never alone.
Thankful for Good Gifts
In reading a devotional by Susie Larson entitled Waking up to the Goodness of God, I was encouraged as she wrote about seeing every blessing as a specific gift from the Heavenly Father. She said this on page 7: “It’s one thing to count your blessings. It’s far more powerful to attach each gift to a God who fiercely loves you. That takes some time, but it’ll change how you think and feel.” If you are like me, you will recognize the benefit of connecting with God in this way.
Blocking Temptation
As I was watching my granddaughter’s volleyball game over the weekend, I had the experience of God’s Holy Spirit telling me to pay attention. He had something to show me.
Holy Priests
Something amazing happens as we trust Jesus and turn ourselves over to His care. We are changed. Our lives take on new meaning as God builds His spiritual house with us.
